2020 Peugeot 508 | After the launch of the sedan a few months earlier, Peugeot draws the eagerly awaited SW declination of its flagship model. We took the wheel in Portugal, on the roads overlooking the coastal city of Cascais.
The look of the 2020 Peugeot 508, we already liked it a lot. By becoming SW, it becomes one of the raciest of its kind. We dare to say it, it is in our opinion one of the most beautiful breaks in the category. The front does not change an inch, and thus keeps this feline and modern look. It gains a little height and then stretches by expanding its rear wings.
The gently sloping trunk terminates on a back featuring the triple-clawed 3D effect light signature. By following him, he impresses, looking well seated on the road. On board, we appreciate in the first place access facilitated by a roof guard more generous. However, the impression of confinement remains, but to a lesser extent. Clearly, the livability turns out to be less than its predecessor, for the benefit of style. The high-end impression found with the sedan is logically found here. The cockpit effect for the driver, we still love it so much.
Finely chosen materials and state-of-the-art equipment make it one of the most interesting sedans from the point of view of life on board today. The boot offers a capacity of between 530 and 1,780 liters, just about average in the category. The bench folds into a configuration 2/3 – 1 / 3. On the other hand, the impossibility of putting the back of the front passenger seat prevents very long object load, where other competitors sometimes allow it.

By pressing the start button, you can barely discern the discreet sound of the 4-cylinder PureTech 180 horsepower. This cavalry, it is appreciated more in essence, also because its responsiveness at low revs has nothing to envy to its equivalent in Diesel, the longer and more. Its good performances allow this break to face the roads with complete peace of mind.
The 8-speed automatic transmission is a good pair with this block. The speeds follow each other without disturbing jerks, and its programming does the job without having to really complain about it. In addition, for fans of paddles driving, the manual mode allows us to really have the hand, with reactivity that does not deter us from using it. A plus on the small roads.
The approval overall does not change, Peugeot having just adjusted the chassis in order to better support the load in the trunk. Thus we find this pleasant behavior, which makes it one of the most dynamic cars in its market segment. This little steering wheel allows us to place and hold it easily, with well-calibrated assistance and consistency.
In addition, comfort is not sacrificed in any way for the benefit of dynamism, a feat that puts Peugeot still in the top of the basket in this area. Behind the wheel, this is perhaps the best place in 2020 Peugeot 508. The 225 horsepower GT version goes even further for those who want a superior driving pleasure. But our 180 horsepower version seems to be a good compromise.

Consumption was maintained between 7 and 8 liters, driving without being particularly wary. Hard to say what it would be with loading and more passengers on board.
